    Okay. I can not connect to the internet on Linux, because I am having troubles with my WG111V2 wireless dongle, so I have to download .tar.gz's through XP, and compile them in Ubuntu. Recently, I've been having some trouble with compiling Yum. I can run the 'make' alright, but when I try 'make install' (yes, I'm under root), and it ends with this:
    "
    mkdir -p /root/usr/share/man/man{5.8}
    install -m 644 yum.8 /root/usr/share/man/man8/yum.8
    install: cannot create regular file `/root/usr/share/man/man8/yum.8: No such file or directory
    make[1]: *** [install] error 1
    make[1]: Leaving directory `home/andrew/yum-2.4.0/docs`
    make: *** [install] error 1

    Could someone shed some light upon this, please?

    Give the complete command set you went through.

    Did you run configure first?

    configure
    make
    make install

    If you dont run configure first, make will fail.

    I did:

    ./configure

    make

    make install.

    It wasn't make that failed, it was make install.
