Printer problems

I got a used printer from someone that has a scanner, copier, and of course a printer.but the problem is that it only prints black things like word document but it does not print color things like picture, it either does not print anything or prints it faded or just prints it in wrong color or makes a mess of colors.It's a lexmark x75, fairly old.should i forget it and get a new one or try and fix it?

Depends, if you do a lot of documents that are B&W free is good. If you want to do photographs printers are cheap, it's the ink that's expensive.

 

are you sure you dont just need to replace the color ink cartridge?

 

seems to me that there lies the problem, the cartridge. Pretty expensive for a Lexmark and might be clogged or dry. With the price of a color cartrige you can buy a better new one and still got money for a coffee (this week I found an All in One for 37.00 dollars!!!).

 

no its not the ink thats the problem, i most of replaced it 5 times and still does not work.i have also cleaned to part where the ink goes. so i have decided to just go ahead and get a new printer, any recommendations on the brand?

HPs look good, but the ink is water soluable. Having said that, I keep going back to the brand.

Cannons and , dang can't remember the other popular brand, don't have that problem. I would go with the price of the ink, it really is the expensive part. You'll notice they are selling printers pretty cheaply nowdays, the money is in the cartridges. A lot of folks on this site refill theirs because of it.
