I've been having an ongoing problem with my pc shutting down every now and then when I play my Diablo 2 game. (yes, I know its old). Is it my temp? it might be, I did a few thread searches and it said to dl this Everest diagnostic. This is what it found:
    Temperatures:
    Motherboard 34 °C (93 °F)
    CPU 54 °C (129 °F)
    CPU Diode 70 °C (158 °F)
    Maxtor 6Y080P0 42 °C (108 °F)

Thats not good is it? I've dusted all the fans on the pc too. TY

I'm assuming those temperatures are at idle. At which point it is possible your CPU is overheating and the cause of your instability.

That is true, I did the Everest run with nothing else running. When I started D2, the pc shut down.

download and run speedfan while you play the game. just run it a few minutes then go out and check the temps; speedfan can log temps so you can see if they go up a lot

Temperature largely depends on the CPU.

    What are your specs?

This Everest diagnostic is pretty cool, it gets all the pc info. This is what I have:
    Motherboard:
    CPU Type AMD Athlon XP, 1833 MHz (11 x 167) 2500+
Motherboard Name Asus A7N8X v2.0 Deluxe (5 PCI, 1 AGP Pro, 3 DDR DIMM, Dual LAN, IEEE-1394)
Motherboard Chipset nVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400
System Memory 1024 MB (DDR SDRAM)
    BIOS Type Award (03/19/03)
    Communication Port Communications Port (COM1)
    Communication Port Communications Port (COM2)
Communication Port ECP Printer Port (LPT1)

and these are the temps when my game is running:
    Temperatures:
    Motherboard 36 °C (97 °F)
    CPU 56 °C (133 °F)
    CPU Diode 74 °C (165 °F)
    Maxtor 6Y080P0 42 °C (108 °F)

A little warm, but not terribly bad.

    Athlon XPs run hot.

It just shut down again while in game, I have a gamers case that I can open pretty quick and most of the drives are warm when I touch them. I'll have to replace some fans, maybe add. TY all.
