HELP please...Ext HDD disappeared and then.....

    All of a sudden my External Maxtor 200gb HD USB disappeared......I don't know how but I finally got to see it in Device manager but not Windows Explorer.

    Switched it to another desktop and I could see the Maxtor but it says 96gb free 0 used.....there is 100+/- GB of Backups on the drive but I cannot access them.

    I have been to Manage HD, Device Management.....with the unallocated space all I can do is Format......

    How do I get the data back?
