Default PowerBook will not turn on, already reset PMU

Sure am hoping someone can give me an idea what to try next. I don't have any health insurance on this thing. Apple tells me there are three major parts of which one or two might be causing this. Can I diagnose further and even replace them myself? I'm not afraid to go inside, but I know only how to put components in and out and can weld.

It won't turn on? The screen stays black, as if there is no power all the time? No chimes?

You have tried this with and without the battery?

Exactly. Just as if there were no electricity coming into it. The power cord light is on, tried another powercord too, with and without battery, battery is new and charged anyway. Something inside doesn't get the electrical signal to start up, I guess. I hate to think what inside that might be. But I would love to have some idea of what inside that might be!

I had to replace the connector inside an iBook G3 (the part that the power cord plugs into) because it was losing the power connection unless you held it at a certain angle. It's possible that the same part is broken in your Powerbook (I believe the connectors were all similar until MagSafe).

It would require a complete take apart, however. Plus there is no guarantee, I knew I had the right part because of the symptoms, but for you it could be much more of an issue.

Just a week ago i had same sort of problems. I contacted the apple customer care for it and they just told me that if i have not altered anything on the lappie at any given point of time then they can cure the problem otherwise they wont even touch it and i have to goto some other place to make it working.
