One year withour any problems. You visit one smutty website sent by a friend and all hell is unleashed in the form of Malware / Virus. I get the "windows has detected spyware infection ....... click here to protect your computer" pop up and zit busting sound every 15 seconds.

I have paid $100 and downloaded Norton to find it doesnt work and I cant go into live updates. Can I contact the company ...no ...no email address only online support which of course ...i cant access.(clever marketing). Will finish rubbing the "sucker" tattoo off my fore head sometime soon.

I have now spent at least 16 hours and ran all the following software
    AdAware
    Symantec
    Custon Fix
    Spy Bot
    Smit Fraud Fix
    Vundofix
    McAffee Stinger
    ATF Cleaner
    & Hijack this

All finds lots of devious files and clean/ delete /remove. But as soon as I re boot ..Bang theres the pop ups coming back like an ugly girlfriend. I will submit my latest Hijack this log file in the hope that someone here will be able to save me from destroying my computer or even worse self harm

    Most grateful for your help.

If you know someone who helped develop malware or virus's. Pass me their details and I will arrange a visit with my car battery & jump leads and waste 16 hours on their nether regions.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Totally agree with you on the car battery and nether regions! but to fully diagnose and remove or start the removals process the below is best to follow as our malware gurus are superb and will assist you in every way possible in removing the pests.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

    Re: Member who needs help

Hijack This logs are pretty useless to us by themselves especially when the HijackThis.exe file is not renamed as required. Many new infections will not properly showup unless it is renamed. Now since the user (is the use bigcol123 - if so I'm not sure why you say he cannot post since he already did????) cannot post in this thread, they will need to start a thread of their own and reference this thread so we know who they are.

[EDIT] In fact since this user already did post, I'm merging this to his thread where he should be able to post. Halo's instructions should have been followed. He was able to post, he just could not see it because forum rules were not followed and the HijackThis log was posted inline thus the SPAM filter trapped it.[/EDIT]

If all of those other programs could be downloaded and run I would expect that ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support could also be run and the other logs (at least some of them) could be sent for us to look at.

At anyrate, only going on the HJT log I would do the below:
    • look for TrustedAntivirus in add/remove programs and if found, uninstall it
    • rename C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\analyse.exe and then continue with the below.
Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\shell.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Printer] C:\WINDOWS\System32\printer.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Spoolsv] C:\WINDOWS\System32\spoolvs.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [TrustedAntivirus] C:\Program Files\TrustedAntivirus\pgs.exe /min
    O4 - Startup: findfast.exe
    O4 - Global Startup: autorun.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now attach the below the Avenger log and a new HJT log.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

I then suggest that the full READ & RUN ME sticky thread be completed.
