The program winword.exe (Microsoft Word) is accessing the internet when I am not running the program. At times my internet pages are taking such a long time to refresh that I sign off the web. Most other times I do not have any difficulty with my internet connection.

I was wondering if there was any Trogans that are using the winword.exe file name that might be bogging down my internet connection.

I followed the Malware Removal Guide posted in the Support Forum. The online virus and trogan scanning did not pick up any problems. Winword.exe continued to access the network after I ran all the virus programs. I have since disallowed Winword access to the internet through the firewall but would like to resolve the underlying problem.

Should I upload the various logs from my scans or is there an obvious solution to the winword.exe problem.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

There is no underlying problem. You just needed to do what you did with your firewall to disable it from having Internet Access which it does not normally required. There are many many applications that try to get Internet access some are for automatic update checking, you don't need to give them access unless you want the auto update to work.
