I have two partitions and would like to format one of them. Is this possible or will I have to settle for formatting the entire drive?

Welcome to MajorGeeks! And yes you can format 1 partition leaving the other intact. Just to be safe, it would be a good idea to back up the partition you want to keep. I formated the wrong partition one time...:D
