Malware on computer

    So, I don't know if I've follwed the steps corectly, so please bear with me. I've been having problems for several days with Trojan horse, Trojan.Vundo, and Downloader viruses. I'm hoping the next steps (with the previous ones) will be enough to clean my comp.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

    Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.​
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
    NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

    Okay, I think my computer may actually be clean now (you guys are great with the directions and scans you provide). I could not get my AVG antispyware to generate a report, so I can't add anything (also, it didn't find ay files the third time run). I have included the other scan reports though, so if there is anything I missed, maybe you'll see it. Also, for some reason, I no longer have an audio device. Any idea why that is? Could the viruses have gotten into that location, which is why it is now gone? In any case, thanks so much for the help!

    You need to attach the logs from GetRunKey and ShowNew, not copies of the programs that you downloaded. Please follow the directions. The logs are named C:\runkeys.txt and C:\newfiles.txt respectively. You are probably still very badly infected. Also you should attach a new/current HJT log since your PC has probably been rebooted at least once since you first posted your HJT log and that log may have been from before running the other scans.

    Well, my father ended up reformating my hardrive (or something to that effect) since there were a lot of missing files (those virus finders worked really well). My computer is back up and running now, so thank you for all the help (and your site WAS really helpful!!!) Thanks! :)
