sound needs to be toggled on to work

    The sound on my IBM T42 ThinkPad is not working properly. I get the standard beeps, but music, etc. doesnt work until I bring up Device Manager, expand Sound, video and game controllers, then right click SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. Even though it shows enabled and the Device Status says its working properly, I have to Disable, and then right click again enabled, and it will work fine, until I reboot.

    I really don't know where to begin diagnosing this, any help would be appreciated. :confused
