Usb

I recently got a new computer that didnt have a serial port to hook up any external devices, I have a weather station that I use. Well I had to get a serial port to USB adapter cable to plug in to my computer and my weather program wont download any data from the station, then I found out that the weatherstation wont support a USB connection, does anybody know how I can remedy this? If you have a spare PCI slot, get card with serial ports.
