External HDD making funny noise

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a Lacie 500gb external hdd.

When the disks are being read it makes a peculiar, almost grinding noise.Ive tried recording it and have uploaded the wav file. Please bare with for the first 10 seconds or so then the noise starts. (Its a 24 second clip)

I just want to know is this normal,or should I send it back while it is still under warranty?

Thanks for the response, have you listened to the sound clip? It doesnt sound like a normal external hdd spinning noise. Its more of a grinding.
