    I am on the verge of pulling my hair out. I am trying to get my desktop and laptop to link up. I want to be able to share files and such.

    Both are running XP SP2. I ran the Windows Network setup. Both have the same workgroup and everything else should be exactly like it is supposed to be. Firewall has also be set to allow the two IPs to see each other.

    I have also read dozens of sites and articles but nothing seems to help.

    Can anyone please help?

    How are the PC's connected?
    Can you browse the Workgroup?

    can you ping each other with them ? and if not dropping the firewall allows you to if oyou do an ipconfig /all on both of them what node type do you get?
