sound problem

Can anyone help me. I have no sound.
I just had another motherboard installed. I don't know much about it but I had my computer built about 4 years ago. I think the old one was a Amtron..or something spelled like that. I had a mother board fan problem, alarm was going off. I took it to the computer place he replaced the fan on the motherboard. also formatting of operating system. got home with it, and alarm came on again. I shut down and restarted in 10 mins...no alarm. had it on all day. that night I had a black screen and computer had turned itself off. It would not come back on. Back to computer place. Next day he had installed a new motherboard/processor/fan. He did not say, but I think it must have been his fault...since I only paid Labor on this trip (69.99) He said I went from a Chevy to a Lincoln. anyway it is not an Intel.
But now I have no sound and did have sound with the other motherboard.
can anyone tell me why?

I have cheap Walmart speakers...Labtec I don't remember getting any software with them, just plug and played.
