There are differences with some power supplies that make it tricky in swapping between the types.
The main connectors to your motherboard come in two very different varieties: AT and ATX.

Older AT power supplies had two similar connectors that could be accidentally switched, usually causing short-circuits and irreversible damage to the motherboard. ATX used one large, keyed connector instead, making a reversed connection very difficult. The new connector also provided a 3.3 volt source, removing the need for motherboards to derive this voltage from one of the other power rails. Some motherboards, particularly late model AT form factor offerings, supported both AT and ATX PSUs.

Also some Power Supplies have a seperate connector for the PS's fan to connect to the motherboard.
If the motherboard is designed to be connected to this fan and is not then your computer may not boot. You will get a PS Fan error.
Without knowing which type motherboard your PC hhas, I can't advise you on the PS.

I have an HP Vectra VL400 as a spare machine and the P.S. is an ISA ATX. (Industry Standard Architecture) Any locally obtained generic ATX P.S. would do. Any (modern-day) unusable connectors can just be "left hanging". I would get a higher wattage though. (As it can always be transferred to any ISA enclosure/tower you may get in the future.)

I UNDERSTAND, THAT I MUST USE A 20 PIN CONNECTOR ATX PSU..........AND IN ORDER NOT TO GET THE FAN ERROR SCREEN I MUST BRIDGE 2 PINS ON THE MOTHERBOARD, ON THE 3 PIN FAN CONNECTOR. PINS #'S WHICH HAVE TO BE BRIDGED?????
