Failed to burn image 80004003 Error

I am at my wits end - your help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know if this is a hardware issue, driver issue or what it is! Trying to burn a DVD created with Roxio MyDVD 9 - Error message below:

I did some limited research, the most relevant results of which I posted above. It seems as if most people 'fixed' this issue by getting a new DVD burner, and a few others dumped Roxio in favor of something else. Another possibility is a firmware update.

My DVD burner is not even a year old. FYI: I have attached a complete burn log. I have also tried burning a DVD with ImgBurn and BurnAware Free Edition. Last tries with each of these failed. I reinstalled both and was only able to burn one DVD with each - so I went back to Roxio and all was fine. This is weird. If you have any other ideas, I would be happy to hear them. Thanks.

 

I hate to say it but everytime in the past I tried Roxio, even after uninstalling it, I always ended up reformating my drive to fix the problems it left behind. I tried two different versions that came free with drives I bought but that was all she wrote, I put it on my shoot list and would not install it on a bet now. Thats not to say you don't have a bad drive, you might very well, I made the mistake of buying a pioneer DVR-112 and its the last Pioneer I'll ever buy even though some folks love them. Once biten twice shy. I just will never give my money to Pioneer again after being burned, ignored and rejected for an RMA. There are alot of bad drives out there lately what with the Chineses taking over the business and the prices dropping near $25. Its a real russian roulette game buying rom drives these days.

But roxio? Chack! Pitui! (does that spell like someone spitting a hocker?)

 

I borrowed an external DVD burner. Guess What! The problem is not the DVD burner! So . . . is it the Direct X - it appears that is that not the case! So, is it the video card? I am not sure how to check that in Device Manager. This is the strangest thing I have encountered. I have worked for over a year now on a multi-media project for my 45th high school reunion coming up May 23rd. Now this! I have tried everything I know. I need help as soon as possible. PLEASE!

Did you read what I said? Roxio does stuff to your system so that other programs will not work, thats why the other burners failed. If your really in dire straights and don't have time to fool around then buy a new hard drive, so you can reinstall on it as a master drive and still retain all your files on the other drive set as slave. Your choice as to whether or not to put roxio on the new drive but you have been warned. No your video card is not the problem, you could burn a disk with no video card installed if you hit the right buttons. The video card has to do with editing and conversion but not burning the results to disk.

If your really thick and can't see the roxio thru the trees, then just reinstall it over itself and maybe, just maybe it will fix the problem for you.

As it turns out, both DVD burners were bad (internal and external). I replaced the external one and now everything works fine with Roxio, DVD Shrink, DVD Fab 5, Image Burner and Burn Aware Free Edition, et al.
