Network Card or Onboard LAN ?

Which is better? I am building a new computer, as per my previous post(s), and I was wondering about pros and cons of onboard LAN. I currently have a Microsoft network card that has seen me through a couple of builds already.

    Which should I use?

    Thanks for any input.

Either should be ok. I would use the onboard just to have a little less clutter in the box.

Depends whether you want gigabit or 10/100. Gigabit would be better for throughput if you have a gigabit network.
Newer mobo's do have gigabit onboard now though.
I normally go with the onboard option, if it is available.

As kestrel said, depends on the strenght of your card. And what you plan to use it for. For some hard-core gaming, I'd suggest a network card if it is stronger and not the cheapest. They mostly will satisfy you...
