Hello! I am new here. I did look at the other posts on touch pad problems first, but I have tried those things and to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions for me. My touch pad makes my cursor jump all around on the page, and I am a medical transcriptionist so typing is a major part of my job and it is really messing me up. Also, I have lost scrolling capability. Any help would be so very much appreciated. I have used the touch pad for years and just couldn't go back to a mouse at this point. I even contacted a person at HP who told me of a driver to install, which did nothing, of course. I have found their tech support to be somewhat lacking. The tech didn't know what else to tell me, except to send my laptop in for the fourth time this month, but I simply can't and won't do that again. Every time I send it to them it comes back with something new, and different broken. Please help me!!!

Right-click on My Computer, left click Properties. Click the Hardware tab and the Device Manager button. Click the + next to Mice and Other Pointing devices. It should say Syaptics, Appoint, Alps, or something other than PS/2 Compatible or Microsoft. If it does, go to the Mouse icon in the control panel to adjust the sensitivity, scrolling, etc. If it says PS/2 or Microsoft, post the model of the laptop (i.e. Pavillion VX5000) and I'll post a link to the right drivers. Your issue is classic for wrong ones.

Hello Davis, sorry to budge in. I've been looking all over for this too. I just intalled a new harddrive and want to disable the touch pad click again. I had it disabled on my old harddrive but i cant' remember how i did it, but it seemed easy. And now i've been looking for an hour how to disable this darned thing. If you dont mind helping me either. I clicked the plus next to the mice and i only have 2 things listed ....HID - complimant mouse and PS/2 Compatible mouse. My model is a Presario V6000. Thanks

Help me, too. My device manager says Alps pointing device (2-way) and it says that I have the latest driver. But it won't scroll. I have a Pavilion dv2500. I should also say that I have Vista.

Rebecca, you need to start your own thread. You don't hijack someone else's thread and you don't resurrect a 3 year old thread.
