cd drive not working

    thing is we dont have the installer cd ... can sombody help us out ? ... ive tried looking around but cant seem to find it so i thought i would ask the people who know more about these things:).

    Hi Rev

    Can you expand on this a little more as not working would initially tell me that you need a new CD Drive as its completly not working, however with some more info we may find that this is software or driver issue.

    Can you open the CD tray and close it?

    What Windows Version you have?

    If you pop in a CD or DVD do either one of them play, try music, data, film, cd or dvd, are there any types that work, if not do you get any error messages on screen, please tel us exactly what they are.


    Common causes are loose cables IDE or Power so check them, even unplug and replug them in, or 3rd party software especially CD/DVD burning messing up a few registry keys so try the advice in this FAQ http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=145532

    Well i can open and close it ... it doesnt play any cd's its like its unstalled ... its wierd it had a virus so we gave to these tech team and they sorted the virus out but then the cd drive was unstalled or somthing.

    There is a pic of it.
