    Hi all,

I am looking for more information regarding flashing procedures and how to do it properly. I am running the following sysem:

    AMD Phenom 9500 2.2
    ASUS M3A mobo
    8800GTS 512
    Creative Extreme Gamer Xi-Fi Fatal1ty
    Vista Home Premium SP1
    2 GB Corsair DDR2

I have heard the best and most effective way to do a flash is to use Dos and a boot disk. However, I can't for the life of me figure out why I can't even make a boot disk in Vista or even if it has Dos. I know I can get to a command prompt, but it is still within windows.

The reason why I want to flash is to help solve some compatibility issues with this mobo and the cpu. I have 0601 currently, but a 0805 official version came out a month ago which is supposed to provide support for new cpus and effectively allow it to perform better and deal with the TLB issue.

I haven't had any major crashes on this computer, but I have very poor performance and some issues with the vid and sound card sometimes. Hoping this will solve my issues and allow me to run things smoother.

    Thanks!

All of the Winflash utilities have performed properly for me, for years now. Here are the ASUS instructions for using it: http://support.asus.com/technicaldocuments/technicaldocuments.aspx?root=198&SLanguage=en-us

IF you want to play it safest, download and install the utility, then reboot into safe mode and run it. This will eliminate the chance of a driver crash during th eflash process.

Geeze, they even have a Winflash for Vista: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
