   may sound like a dumb question but can I run 2 IDE drives and a SATA at the same time? and do I HAVE to use the SATA as the main drive?

   Not a dumb question at all, and yes you can use multiple drives SATA and IDE, but personally I would stick with the SATA at the main drive as its going to be the quickest.
