Hi can any one provide me to a link to an accurate PSU wattage calculator, i have ran two now and the results both came out at only 340 watts which i think is quite inacurate, a rough outlook of my future build is:
    gigabyte mobo
    q6600 cpu
    8800gtx
    3 ddr2 ram totalling 3gb
    1 hdd 7200rpm 500gb
    1 cdrom
    1 120mm case fan

    and thats it

    thanks

one more thing which i forgot to mention was lets say i needed a 500w psu, so i decided to play it safe and go for a 600+ psu, what should i be looking for? i found some good psu's on ebuyer with great ratings, perfect wattage and yet the price is really low, surly there must be some catchrolleyes
this one for instance is alot cheaper than the rest

    Thermaltake's are a decent choice.

thanks for the link, ive just done a test, even chucked on an extra couple of fans and a slave hdd, and it came out with 390watts, i still think thats very low, i even put the load on 100%

maybe im just being paranoid however i would like to keep my current 500w psu if possible

I always get a more powerfull PSU. I usually end up adding more stuff...

yea thats a good point, i think im going to go for this one, can anybody tell me how this would be for the hardware i specified, key items being the 8800gtx and the q6600
ive looked it over and it looks sound to me, but i always like a second opinion
    thanks

I was looking for something like this earlier myself. I actually ran across an article with a VERY similar set up as mine in this link :http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=160372

...they had a 1000w PSU in SLI mode at load. I figured since I was going to eventually get another card that a 1000w PSU was warranted. I'd say that if you have a similar set up to mine only 1 vid card that a 700PSU should be more than enough so long as you have a steady 12 and 5 rail on the PSU.

I am not familiar with that brand JakeyC, so I can't say anything good/bad about it. I did notice it only has one SATA power cable. If I were buying one, I would want 2 or 3 of those.
