Hello all. New guy here and not a major geek, (no offence intended). Can some please explain why an 80 gig hard drive shows up as only 12 gig when installed. It used to show as 80 but now it doesn't. It makes no difference if plugged into primary or secondary ide, and there are no jumpers in the drive. If it helps, the drive in question is a maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9. 80GB ATA/133 HDD. Thanks in advance. :confused

Go to bios, go to the 1st tab or "standard cmos", if the harddisk is detected as less than 80GB, go to this harddisk, change ACCESS MODE to LARGE/LBA, save & exit BIOS.

    What os are you running?
