I have this HP Desktop with XP, 3 yrs old, the temp in the bios says its 204 Degree Ferinheit or 98 Degree Celsius, however the computer does not shutdown due to over heating, its not running hot, I resurface the CPU with new Thermal
cleaned out the heatsink and the fans are clean. HP could not help, also the OS is newly reloaded.

See what temps that shows. Not sure what is going on there you may need to update your BIOS but I would consider that as a "last option".
