compact flash card problem

Discussion in 'Hardware' started by christopherjellybean, Jun 1, 2008.

  1. I have a old camcorder that uses compact flash card for pictures ( Yeah...it's old!) I copied the pictures that were on it and was going to format it and put it back but all of a sudden it write protected? The camera dosen't have this option on it so I don't have any clue how it happened. Is there anyway i can "break" the write protection? I'm to cheap to buy a new card...or camera for that matter but if I have to I guess I will. Just trying to save some money if I can.

How are you accessing the CF card?
If it is still in the camera, there may be an option in its menus to protect the files.
If you are using a standalone card reader, it may have become confused. Go to your device manager, uninstall the flash card and the reader (it will be easier if they are plugged in at the time), unplug both, reboot, and then let them get redetected.

  3. I using my card reader in my dell home computer. But when I try to put in the camcorder is says card error 11?

You would have to look in the camcorder's manual in order to find out what error 11 means. If it is trivial, try formatting it in the camcorder.
Did you know that a new, 2G compact flash card is $19.00? http://www.memorysuppliers.com/sa2gbulii60x.html
