Question internet problem

my internet doesnt work when running the computer normally. it only works when i run the computer in safemode with networking. i cant seem to find the problem. The only reason I can think of, is the new modem i got right about 2 weeks before this problem started occuring. The modem is a netgear CG814GCMR. Im having the internet problems on the desktop computer running windows xp. i also have a lap top without any problems connecting to the internet. I went to the steampowered support for help first because online video games would not connect to the servers. All they said was that it was a virus. any other help would be great. This is my hijackthis log when in safe mode:
