this was in a red report from IOrbit after i ran AWC3:confused

Start UP X NeroCheck.exe Added by the PROXY-X TROJAN! Note - this is not related to "Nero Burning Rom" CD writing software

so do I need to do 'Read me, Run me...' again?

YES, I have a Nero program ...it's even on a disc came with my PC, (kind of expensive... to me...:-D), everything else I have is from Major Geeks free (except I bought a printer, a DVD writer, and a scanner).
I use it (Nero) often, but lately there's been trouble with it not working right. I am suspicious that my anti-virus is killing my good files...
I might have to reinstall, but no hurry right now, I haven't used it lately, like for burning a DVD.
Also, I think I was too hasty in reporting the red flag here...
When I shut down Firefox to leave the house, there was a log type screen hidden behind where Ff was, and I think AWC3 fixed it? It was a different log file list, but clean, from AWC3.
Anyway, I was gone for a few hours, I came home, Folding@Home still running...
If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

We get too soon old and too late smart.

    Thanks chaslang,
Anybody else have a problem with AWC3? last thread on subject was in 2007 ( I try not to open a new thread for every little detail:-D)

Fixed what? If it removed NeroCheck.exe, it did not remove a malware process.

No! It is not that popular and it is not an antivirus program anyway although it does supposedly have some antispware/adware detection features built in. It is primarily an optimizer program. Read their own blog:
That was quoted from here: http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html

When I said I thought it was fixed, I guess that was a log of everything else except security...
If I run again I get same report....
It's just the word "trojan" that is scary ....

Not to argue, but I noticed that for popularity, AWC3 is #1 on Major Geeks
    most download list???
After running again... that red flag still comes on,
the reason I am not worried too much about it is because I haven't had a crash in 30+ hours...:celebrate
    .......If it ain't broke, don't fix it.....:highfive

    Thanks ...chaslang,
    ..........

You have not attached a log so I don't know what you are referring to, but if the log show nerocheck.exe to be malware then it is wrong.

I'm referring to popularity based upon the ability to block, detect, and remove malware. And no this is not the most downloaded program. It has been downloaded (as of right now) 357,801 times. There are many many programs download way more then that. Examples:
    • Spybot Search & Destroy Tools 4,883,992
    • HijackThis 6,108,735
    • Spyware Blaster 12,361,616
    • Ad-Aware 2007 20,355,289
And that is only just a few examples from only the Anti-Spyware directory.

I repeat again, if this is a detection of nerocheck.exe then it is wrong. I'm not sure why you are having a problem understanding that this is a false detection.

    Thanks again chasling,
Since I haven't had a crash in a day and a half, and my F@H is cruising along full speed ahead, I will continue to ignore this "red flag".
I guess I like AWC3 because it acts like it's doing something. :-D
CCleaner takes about 1.3 seconds to do it's job and it just make me feel like 'how can it get anything accomplished in 1.3 seconds?' :heli
I used to run Easy Cleaner before (I lost it during a reinstall of XP w SP2),
then I did Read Me...(malware steps)... which said use CCleaner so that's what I use now.
Spybot takes a long time to finish it's run (I just got congradulations, no problems)
I'm heading for the lounge...:highfive :seeya

Speed is dependent upon which options you have set and how many files/applications you have on your PC. The cleaner part is just a drive cleaner and is separate from the Issues tab which is scanning the registry which we don't recommend in the READ ME. Our approach is "if it is not broken, don't fix it". Even though most registry cleaners can be fairly safe, they have been known to produce unbootable PCs especially if you blindly fix everything they show which most users will do. This info is not always correct.

It is downloadable like dozens of other tools. See the Registry download folder: http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads15.html
