Ok i recently got a new Dell Inspiron 630m laptop. At the same time, i got a Wireless g router. But there lays my problem. Cox (my ISP) saw the new router and panicked, and since i am the one with the most data downloaded (roughly 160-180 gb and rising), i am having issues connecting the following programs to the internet:
1.BitComet; it regularly pulls barely 200 kbps now, but with the old computer it pulled over 500, sometimes spiking to over 1.3mbps 2.Unreal Tournament 2004; refuses to connect to any server what so ever, and it was installed three days ago 3.Unreal Tournament GOTY; Connects to servers but it is "choppy" and my ping soars to over 4k at times (the record was 50,000ms ping), have owned it for several years 4. Windows Live messenger; text refuses to show up on my screen on a regular basis from the person im speaking to 5.Xfire instant messenger; I have trouble staying connected to the Xfire main server for more than five minutes If there is any possible way to get around this without calling up cox and chewing them out, please tell me. All mentioned programs are stable. |

Stop torrenting. Seriously, its the answer. Torrent use up all the possible connections, and some home routers dont do well tracking multiple connections bittorrent requires. Schedule your torrents for night or what not.
