   I take it you don't have Vista Ultimate, Business or Enterprise? but Vista Home Basic or Vista Home Premium?
   
   The first three have fax and scan built in, but if the other two then try this lite version of a retail application and note its Free install instructions at bottom http://www.blackice.com/impColorFaxLite.htm ( not used this one as I have no need for fax ) its basic but may do what you need.
