programs close slowly

    I have XP SP3 and my programs close slowly. I can fix the problem temporarily by restarting the computer but it lasts for just a few hours. I ran 3 different spyware programs in safe mode but that does not seem to make any difference.
    I just ran Hijack this and since I have no clue what the log means..... Can anyone help? Thanks

    Thanks for the quick answer. Am defragging now - already did the rest. If it does not resolve will go to the next step in your response. Thanks for the advice.
