sound max hd problems

hi i recently purchased a lenovo t61 laptop for specific use of recording creating music on the go, i ran into a major problem the sound options only gives me the option to record by microphone and not standard what you hear or stereo mix recording , does any one know of a way to fix this? enable the modes or ways around it?
