Strange overlay problem (NVidia Geforce)

I've got a strange problem that seemingly began out of no where.

Here is a pic;


All my overlays, be it movies games, or even the preview images in NVidia Control Center have this checkers board dot pattern. Also my TV output no longer works however I assume the two problems are related.

I've been using the same drivers for a year. I updated to try to correct it. Didn't work. I've been screwing around for well over 5 hours trying to remedy this, but to no avail.

I'm running Win XP SP2 32 bit. My card is an Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS (factory settings). Thanks in advance.

 

Have you tried another graphics card at all, or the same card in another system?

 

Unfortunately I don't really have the ability to do that. I've only got the one rig, which makes this sort of thing difficult. I have an OLD rig with AGP which doesn't help.

 

May be overheating check the temps in nTune. Is the card new or old? If its still under warranty you may want to get a replacement.

 

The card is less than a year old, I've already begun talks to get an RMA. It doesn't run very hot, and I do have high temp alerts set up, can't say I've ever gotten one. I lost a graphics card last summer to heating issues. Since then I beefed up my cases cooling significantly... so yeah...

 

Download and install Everest, that should tell you how hot it's running.
