EXTREME loading times (20 min)

Have a friend who got a BSOD of UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. So I reinstalled xp for her but now when you boot it up it takes like 20 min. It does the POST then sits at a black screen for a while, then a gray bar at the bottom slowly fills up then the xp screen etc.

Its a Dell Inspiron 1150, since I just reformatted and I didn't really install much other than the drivers from the dell cds so my only guess is her HD is dieing but I figured I'd check with you guys to see if anyone may think otherwise.

How long you think before it dies completely?
