BT Home Hub Woes

    Hello,
    I have been with BT on their now Option 3 sinc broadband was released, Recently it has started dropping the connection.
    some times for a few seconds sometimes for the whole evening.

    Today we had a BT engineer out today who replaced the filter in the main connection (its all built in to the main face plate) from the fileter on the ADSL side there is a lead about 6-7 metres long is this too long?

    The Hub seems to loose the connection when transferring a lot of data, cai it overheat? the top is not blocked. should i add some cooling?

    hubs can over heat but thats rare if you think it is stick a small portable fan next to it

    also the cable is a Tad long but it should not have much of a effect
    could also be a problem with the Nic or the cable it self might be Shotty

    The simplest solution is to get BT to substitute the home hub.

    If the problem is in the external wiring it will continue.

    If it's in the hub it will stop.

    Just to update you all,
    BT have replaced the whole master socket, the extension cable and the socket on the end of that and the other cable.
    So far its working okay

    Update

    After 1 week the line was back to normal and there were 2 faults between the exchange and our house.
    The exchange is about a mile away. Any way we now need a new cable from the green box (which is at the top of our drive) to the house. just waiting for the surveyor to come out.
    Will ask for a new home hub for compensation

    Just got the new line installed, the settings on the line adjusted and the atenuation (gain)
    and now the Hub is faulty.
    Its outside of warranty so they are not prepared to do anything unless we sign up for another 18 months. No compensation for problems since february, I only want 1 hub that will cost them next to nothing cost price.
