    Putting together a new system...

    BioStar TP43D2-A7 MB
    Core 2 Duo E8400
    GeForce 8800GT
    2 GB GSkill PC8500
450 Watt Power Supply (came with the case)

Here's the problem - turn the power on, all fans and HD spin up but no POST beeps and no display on the monitor. Could this be a dead MOBO or possibly the need for a bigger Power supply? Any help is appreciated.

Power supplies that come with cases are famous for being huge piles of :crap so that could be the problem. Make sure you have power running to all the connectors; that particular motherboard has 3 power connectors: the main 24pin connector, the 12v 4pin connector up behind the PS2 ports, and the 4pin molex connector next to the video slot. The video card also has it's own power connector; make sure that's plugged in also. Make sure the CMOS battery is installed correctly and that the CMOS jumper is in the right position (check the manual). Make sure the RAM is fully seated and make sure the CPU is correctly installed (I saw one guy who actually didn't remove the black plastic square from his Intel CPU and he managed to cram the whole thing into the socket, damaging the pins permanently). Make sure the heat sink/fan is mounted correctly. If none of this works, disconnect everything not crucial to power up: unplug data and power cables from ALL drives (CD/DVD/hard drives/floppy drives), remove any and all extra PCI cards (sound card/modem/ethernet/etc), use only one stick of RAM. If that gives video, start adding components one-by-one until everything is plugged in....

Good luck and keep us posted!!! And upgrade that power supply ASAP!!!!

Agree with previous post.. even though new, your power supply could be causing the problem. you said you were building a new system, possibly one of your components could be the issue. With a new vid card going in, if you can, try another first. Also, as stupid as it sounds.. check all your panel connections on the mobo. I have mistakenly crossed wired one before and had similar problems..rolleyes

    Just wanted to update:

Bought and installed an Antec 650w Power supply, but still the same results. I have RMA'ed the mobo so hopefully that will solve the problem. Thanks to you guys for your advice
