need to know if I have a problem

Bought a new Compaq computer, had it 6 weeks. It has started making a noise which sounds like a fan running. I have no clue what causes the noise or how to stop it. At any rate it alarms me because I've never experienced this sound before. Also, there are times when this happens that my computer signs off and when I start it back again, I get a screen saying there was a close down error and I have the choice of some safe modes or one that says windows.
Please let me know what might be the problem

 

If it is only 6 weeks old, it should still be under warranty. You should be contacting the place where it was purchased.
