PS3 wont system update

Hey
I recently got a PS3, and I went to sign up for a playstation network account but recieved the message "you need to system update". I followed the instructions and done a system update, going on System Update-via Internet-It then came up the latest update data was found Version 2.53 I then go on ok which brings up the license agreement which I accept It then says downloading update data do not turn off the system etc.. but stays on 0% occionally staying on 1% on other times when I try. After it stays on 0% for a while it brings up the message "An error occurred during the download operation. A connection to the server cannot be established (80710723).

I know the Internet works because when I do a Internet Test it comes up Obtain IP Adress: Succeeded
Internet Connection: Succeeded

Also the Internet Browser is working on connecting to Google so I know the internet is working on the PS3.
