Stop Error Win Vista 64!

I keep getting stop error code: *** Stop: 0x0000007B... an infected boot sector. I replaced the hard drive but I still got error. So, I put back the original hard drive. My expensive Gateway bundle purchased at Best Buy (no, I didn't buy insurance) did NOT include ANY cd's. Can't call Gateway, my son voided the warranty by putting in a super duper new video card 3-4 mos ago to play his online games. I have a win 64bit recover cd which I burned, I used it & gave me the recovery options & I've chosen all of them-- just to go back to the same blue screen of death.

Did Gateway perhaps include a hidden partition with the recovery setup on it? If this was removed, it could be what is causing the error.
