Monitor keeps shutting off.

so i have a problem with my monitor. when i leave my computer alone for a while - like when im sleeping or i go dirtbike riding - the monitor light will be orange like its in sleep mode, but when i move the mouse to wake it up the green light comes on and i have a black screen. but if i shut down the system and start it up again it works. my dad told me to check out the power settings and i set it so the monitor doesnt shut off. yet this problem still persists. does anyone have an idea of what might be the problem? any help is greatly appreciated. :wave

 

if your monitor is old then it could be reaching the end of it's road plus crts are going obsolete and there might be the possibilty that the heating element is about to burn out if nobody gives you a solution go out and buy a lcd they don't fail as much as old crt monitors (plus nobody sells them anymore but if they do their probiably old)

 

it is an lcd. its an older gateway i got from my dad. i'll have to try and find a year on it though. all i know is that its an FPD1810.
