Default Adobe Reader 9.1 Lite?

Does anyone know if someone will create a lite version as Shark007 did for 9.0.0?
http://majorgeeks.com/Adobe_Reader_Lite_d5915.html

I believe Shark007 said that on the MSFN forums he was discontinuing his work on this version.

Will anyone else step forward?

I've used Adobe Reader for the longest time, but when I found this, I never went back to Adobe. Just a suggestion. http://www.majorgeeks.com/Foxit_Reader_d4763.html

Hi

TBH if you want a lite PDF reader I would 2nd Stubbys suggestion and go with Foxit, if Shark007 is to stop support and development for this version then he's likely to not startup again as it takes time and his codec work I imagine takes alot of time to develop.

Thanks for all the input. I am familiar with many other PDF readers, etc. The Adobe Reader Lite version was very good for people who didn't want to stray away from Adobe products. Especially at work.

I understand your reluctance to stray from products you're used to, but if Shark007 has ceased support for the one you're using that'll mean, as I'm sure you are well aware of, no updates or newer versions. Just a suggestion, keep your Adobe installed and try Foxit and compare the two side-by- side. If you decide that Adobe is better for your needs, then just delete Foxit. Nothing ventured....nothing gained!! BTW, I do NOT work for Foxit!!

Hi Mickey

I totally understand that stance, and at where I work we or should I say IT Security dept where reluctant to stray from Acrobat Pro, but they did a fair anount of testing on an app for me called DoPDF to create PDFs as I was not going to sanction the purchase of multiple licences of Acrobat Pro, but after contacting the developer and checking that this app could be used for corporate or Gov use, they signed it off and we have now likely saved 100K+ of software.

Checked to see if Acrobat Reader Speedup by Joseph Cox (bootblock.co.uk) has an updated version but sady not.

Yeah, basically our stores (over 1,000) need just a pdf viewer. They only have viewers for Microsoft Office files as well, no write/create capabilities. And getting superiors to realize the advantages of using the Lite version was not easy. The Lite version saved us a many calls from the stores.

There is an application/service that we use, which uses pdfs as forms to view and print. And it pretty much required the latest version. The regular version had so much bloatware on it. You and to make sure that after you installed it, you ran it once, and checked that darn box at first run. May, not seem like much of a task, but when you have to troubleshoot over a 1,000 different things, it can be tedious. The Lite version was awesome. Just install and go. Saved troubleshooting and explaining. With over a thousand stores the troubleshooting time could add up quickly.

The MSFN community is loaded with IT professionals. My roots are there.
I am sure this project will be picked up by capable hands.

Once a release makes it through the rigorous testing of the MSFN community I will sanction it for public release by MajorGeeks as a replacement to my previous work.

At this time I suggest you wait for a 9.1 Lite release from MajorGeeks.com

Hi

Have a sneeky suspicion that a few posts over at MSFN have been deleted in that thread on Abobe Lite as I did see the download link earlier and a few posts after it, that are not there now, likely suspect application!

As for 'ardownload.adobe.com' thats a legitimate adobe server, but its not a lite version but the full one.

The posts weren't deleted. i moved them to a new thread of thier own.
http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=131086

as stated before, I suggest you wait for MajorGeeks to post 9.1 Lite because then you'll know that you are not getting a buggy build. The new author is in direct communication with me and is now on his 6th build.

When the build is completely ironed out and ready for primetime exposure I will notify the MajorGeeks General to post it for the world to use.

Thank you so much. I know many of us will eagerly await the release.

Shark007, Thanks so much for all your hard work . We have been utilizing your work for years. Your thumbprint is on every PC in house. Vista Codec Pack, Windows 7 Codec Pack, and Adobe Reader Lite. After installing and trying the real McCoy it was a relief finding a Lite version here with MajorGeeks, and not having to go revert to an older version.
