i have a pc with an Intel d102 motherboard. recently my IDE hard drive failed. i bought myself a SATA hard drive. i connected to one of the 4 available SATA port on the motherboard and tried installing Win XP pro SP 2 on to this hard drive. but could not as the installation would abort after about 75% installation, with the following error code.
    ***STOP:0X00000050 (0XF7A0900C, 0X00000000, 0X805CD6C5, 0X00000000)
    atiide2k.sys- address F7A0900C base at F7AO8OOO, Datestamp 40bf6f34

i borrowed an IDE hard drive from a friend, connected to my mobo and installed Win xp SP 2. This installed fine. there is no setting available to set SATA to native in the bios settings.there are only legacy and enhanced available and i have tried both settings. i have already downloaded the latest available bios from Intel site and have flashed the Bios. this did not solve the trouble.

can anyone out there help please?

If this is your board http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d102ggc2/index.htm
according to the manual from here
    http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d102ggc2/sb/CS-022441.htm
If you install a SATA (such as a hard drive) the auto-configuration utility in the BIOS automatically detects and configures the device for your computer.

Now before you install XP on a SATA drive, you do need to install the drivers. Some of slipstreamed the drivers into their XP installation disk. I've never done this so I can't tell you how you'd do it.

    hi plodr,
you are right about the board at http://www.intel.com/support/motherb.../CS-022441.htm
thanks. i do know how to slipstream. but that is not neccessary. i can actually do the installation of third party drivers using f6 at installation start up. this is not the problem. most intel boards need to be set to "native" in the bios setup for winxp to install on to SATA. but this perticular mo-board does not have that option at all.
thanks anyways. see if anybody you know have fixed this problem ever.
