dvd/cdrw

friends laptop the dvd cd drive not working go into device manager it says its working but when i look further down the two via ata channels have yellow marks when i check it says windows cannot load the drivers required code 31 i have looked on many sites i have tried driver finder and i have tried uninstall reboot i have tried the registry fix and nothing i would do a windows reinstall but cant cos ive got no drive any help thanks any other way to install windows without a drive

 

I've seen drives stop working do to viruses and malware. Are you certain this is not an issue? Also many computers have a restore feature on my computer tapping F12 during startup brings you to the screen for a restore. This often will fix the issue with the drive. Good Luck, Sue
