My control panel (Win XP Home) suddenly has two Network Connections applets. I can't delete either and they both contain the same info. Is there any way to get rid of one or keepone from loading? Everything works...it just looks weird :)

Well... I know all the control panel applets are listed in the registry somewhere... I kinda forgot where... but I'll search for ya and post when I find it. This may or may not contain two of the network connections, in which case you could delete one if another exists. BTW... I've had the same problem before, but I think I knocked that problem out during one of my formats... (I seem to format every couple months... I dunno why... obsessive compulsive, I guess... everything has to be just so-so for me.)

Ok... found it... I'm assuming you know how to get to the registry, but just in case... go to start, run, type regedit and hit enter. You can do this from task manager, file, new task, and then type regedit... but anyway... once in the registry, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ ControlPanel \ NameSpace

Click on each key in the window on the right... if you see two with the value of Network Connections, delete one. It may or may not be there... this is just a guess of how to solve the problem. Now... out of curiosity, do you have your configuration set up to where the Control Panel shows up in "My Computer" ?

I only found one entry in the location you specified. No, I do have control panel to show in my computer...should I?

I can relate to "obsessive-compulsive". If I had a dollar for every time I have had to format trying to "get all my ducks in order" I could buy you a big steak.

Thanks for your help and kindness.

Try taking the Control Panel out of My Computer and see if that makes any difference. Might reboot if nothing changed. Like I said, I've had this problem before and have no idea how I fixed it.

    .cpl

Not sure if this'll help, used to work in 98, and works in 2K. Do a search for *.cpl on your system drive. You might have to double click on what shows up to see what applets they are. Hope this helps.
