Default Anyone Fly RC Planes here?

I've been flying them, both electric and nitro, for about 6 years now and it's great. However, I wanted more of a challenge, so I took up RC Helicopters about 2 months ago. Well, I wanted a challenge....I got one!! So, does anyone else here 'fly,' either planes or helicopters? Electric or nitro?

I've never flown RC but I still occasionally fly U-control stunt planes. (with the lines for control).
Nothing more fun then doing a loop or wing-over and pulling out, touching wheels down, and taking back off again, without crashing!
And all within a dangerous top ceiling of 20 feet above the ground.

Gloozit, I've never used that type of controller, but I can see the benefits of it. At least with that kind of control you won't have to worry about your plane heading for parts unknown if, by chance, your radio controller decides to crap-out!! I've only seen that happen once and, trust me, it's not a pretty sight!!

N5638J, if you've never flown an RC helicopter, may I make a suggestion? Don't start with a nitro bird. Instead, start with something like a CX\2, or a C\X3. Both are electric birds and are coaxial in configuration, and are ALOT cheaper to repair when you crash. Not only that, the initial cost isn't near a nitro bird. A CX\2, or CX\3 will run about $200.00 and comes complete with EVERYTHING you need to start. Here's some info on those two birds, just in case you're interested http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/De...rodID=EFLH2000 And this is the CX\2, which is what I'm flying http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/De...rodID=EFLH1250. However, mine doesn't look quite like that anymore since I've done some modifications to it.

Yes but if the wind blows just right when you are in a dive and puts slack into your line, you lose control and power dive into the pavement. Kind of hard on engines.

Not to mention the wings and the fuselage! I wanted to try jets before I went to helicopters, but after talking with some of the guys who fly them at the field, I determined that I'm just not rich enough, or skilled enough to attempt them!! They look like they'd be a blast to fly, but they're just too damn fast for my reflexes!!

Yeah, that sounds good until you stumble and let go of the handle. My bro did that, this very large plane headed for the nearest kit eating tree. Go figure.

Well it could either be a tree that ends the flying for the day, OR someone that doesn't have the sense to get out of the way, is in this clip

Man, that guy is GOOD!!! I wish I had 0ne-third of his skill. They fly a few jets at our field too, but I've never seen one flown like that. I can only imagine the money he has tied up in that jet. Thanks Hrlow2!!

Without a doubt...that took some long hours of practice and many 'crashes to get that good However, when you can do this with an RC helicopter, you KNOW you're good That's what you call some really good 3-D flying. In case your interested...NO I CANNOT fly that well, especially with a coaxial bird. I'm more into convential flying and, with any luck, this will be my next bird With the lights and sounds, I probably could build one of those for about $2,500 to $3,000, depending on the motor and servos I'd use. BTW, that does include the TX!!

HI N5636J!! It's been awhile! Have you ever watched "Airwolf" on TV? That is one beautiful bird. However, after the show was cancelled after 3 seasons, Airwolf was sold to a German firm where she now serves as an air ambulance, without her guns and rockets Actually, there was a 4th season. USA Networks picked it up, but changed all the people and any action from Airwolf was dubbed in from the previous seasons. What a waste! Still, I managed to buy the first 3 seasons of Airwolf on DVD and even though the 4th season is available on DVD, I think I'll pass All together there were 55 episodes, not counting the 4th season. In case you haven't guessed, yeah, I love Airwolf too!!!

Well, it looks like it's time to 'hi-jack' my own thread!! N5638J, I'm hunting for an episode of Airwolf that I thought would be in the first 3 seasons, but it's not, nor is it in the 4th season. Maybe you can help, I hope! It's where Airwolf totally destroyed a casino run by the Mafia that half-killed a local cop. It was a tall, white, round building and, I think, it was one of the best action scenes 'The Lady' ever did. I've only seen that episode once, but it has stuck with me for some reason! I can't think of the name of the episode, nor where to find it. I'm beginning to think that they didn't put all the episodes on DVD Can you think of the name of that episode? I'd sure like to find it, even if I have to buy another DVD to get it!
