monitor issue

The problem is quite noticeable since I installed and played BioShock where I'm in a room that suddenly goes dark, lights start flashing and the image is broken up with horizontal bands running up the screen. Looks like the distortion you see when a crt is recorded on camera.

My monitor is a Viewsonic 22" 60hz @ 1680x1050 on Vista 64 and GTX285.

What you are describing sounds more like a video card issue then a monitor issue,
Try playing the game on lower settings .

In addition to what FarJoe said, make sure there is not a lot off dust on the video card's heatsink and make sure the fan (assuming it has one) is spinning. You should also make sure your power supply has enought power for your system. Also try some newer or older drivers for the video card. Sometimes they release a screwy driver version.

Everything mechanical checks out, the power supply is more than enough at 600w with 32A each 12v rail, as far as dust is concerned the system was built about three weeks ago.

Your suggestion regarding the drivers need my attention though, so I'll try a few others to see what results, thanks guys.

Tried changing power connectors???? The Rail your running on might not have enough power ....
