Cool PERFECT processor upgrade for CP M2000 notebook

Hi!

I've decided to embark on a serious upgrade for my Compaq Presario M2000 notebook (Intel Celeron M 360 (1.40-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB) ❏and one question that I've not yet seen definitively answered in all the online forums is - What is the BEST possible CPU upgrade I could get?

I have the latest F.22 BIOS released by HP (2006), a Qanta motherboard (3090, 46.13, Bus Clock: 400 Mhz), and the willingness to try dangerous/outrageous/risky/genius upgrade options. Advice will be super appreciated!

The 'easy' answer seems to be Intel Pentium M 750 (1.80-GHz) since the manual for the CP M2000 states:

"The following processors are available, varying by computer model:
❏ Intel Pentium M 750 (1.80-GHz) with 400-MHz front-side bus (FSB)
❏ Intel Pentium M 740 (1.70-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
❏ Intel Pentium M 735A (1.70-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
❏ Intel Pentium M 730 (1.60-GHz) with -MHz FSB
❏ Intel Pentium M 725A (1.60-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
❏ Intel Celeron M 380 (1.70-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
❏ Intel Celeron M 370 (1.50-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
❏ Intel Celeron M 360 (1.40-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
❏ Intel Celeron M 350 (1.30-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
-Full-featured models feature both Intel Pentium M and
Celeron M processors. Defeatured models feature only
Celeron M processors."

Any ideas on how/whether anything faster can be installed on the M2000?

Thanks!

PS - I'm attached to this particular laptop, so suggestions involving 'abandon this scheme' not welcome "P

Default Re: PERFECT processor upgrade for CP M2000 notebook

Ok, I'm thinking of replacing my processor with an Intel Pentium M 760 2.00GHz 2 MB L2 533 MHz FSB instead of the Intel Pentium M 750 (1.80-GHz) with 400-MHz front-side bus (FSB)......please do tell me:

Will the damn thing explode? get super hot and start burning? refuse to work?

please help/
