Question Can't install usb driver

RE: O/S VISTA HOME PREMIUM SP1 64 BIT
I've downloaded Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006 but the USB driver doesn't install. I've tried numerous times with no luck. As well, no special USB shows up in Device Manager. I went to the GPS site and downloaded the new driver for this program which downloads ok, but it won't open up.
It still stays in the installer mode in System32. When I open up this .exe installer file it goes directly to the PC BUT ENDS UP STILL IN THE .EXE INSTALLER MODE
Frustrating to say the least.

Question Vista gps driver installation

o/s VISTA HOME PREMIUM SP1 64 BIT

When I take the current driver download for a GPS (GPS500) and open it, it appears to be doing something but it does not show where it goes nor gives me the choice of where to install it. After doing a SEARCH, however, I found it in Windows/System32 DRIVERS but it's still in it's original, unopened APPLICATION (.EXE) format!

Manufacturer, Pharos GPS. Unit came with the MS software and I downloaded a newer, 64 bit compatible, driver from their site.
