    Hi,
I run a business in which I need to have many computers running on their own IP address. This is becuase they are performing an automated task on a website over and over again and the website will not let the IP into the site if it recieves too many submissions. So with one IP per computer, it spreads the submissions out over many IPs. Cox (my cable ISP) will only let you have 3 IP's per account/modem so I have serveral accounts with them so each computer has its own IP. I do this by running the cable modem to a switch and then to 3 different routers and on to each computer. I am paying almost 500/month for all these accounts.

I am curious if there is a better option out there for me. Is there a way to have my network of computers all on one IP which changes periodically without disconnecting? Or maybe just another way I can get one service which will give me a bunch of IPs since I can't find anyone else to sign up for service under with Cox so I can get more IPs.

    Any Ideas would be appreciated
    Thanks
    Brian

Say this again I was kind of confused, you have multiple web servers and are wondering if there is a better way that each can be accessed other then buyin all the accounts? That's what I got from you but I need more clarification as I think I am wrong...

thanks for responding. currently at my house this is my exact setup. I have 12 computers running. I have 4 modems. Each modem is an account with Cox, the ISP. Each of these modems are connected to 1 of 4 switches. Each of the 4 switches are connected 3 routers for a total of 12 routers. Each router is then connected up to a computer. So I have a total of 12 computer and 12 IP addresses.

So i'm wondering if there is company/serivce that will give me like 20 IPs for a price. Also wondering if there is any way I can have a system where all 12 computers were on one IP address and that address changed automatically every few seconds. Could I do that with a dynamic IP? The cost isnt a huge deal to me, I just want to have as many IPs as I need and/or be able to have them automatically roatate. Let me know what I can explain better.
    Thanks

Why not just have Computer A be YOURIP:80 Computer B be YOURIP:81 etc. Would this work in your situation? I am guessing you are rotating information on a webserver so why not have the router point to the computers with the port number being incremental?

I'll take a different approach from Vlad assume you don't want to change your existing setup very much (although I think that you do, and probably should).

My first guess would be yellow pages. Start calling around to local computer consultants. They should know all the ISP's in the area. Hopefully you can get ISDN or DSL in your area.

Get an idea of what other ISP's would charge for your business. You're not fully looking to change providers yet, but you want to see what everyone else is paying. Depending on your business, it might even pay off to move to a different location where you can get cheaper Internet access.

Now it's time to contact Cox. You're paying them $6,000+ a year to provide a service, and it seems to me they're treating you like 3 different customers. You're working to suit their needs rather than them doing what you want. You shouldn't have to pay rent for three modems and three separate accounts. Now, you need this service, and they know it. I'm betting they'll be a bit flexible and change the payments. If not, well, you know what the other ISPs will charge.

    Edit: Stupid "n't"

I'm sorry, this doesn't pertain to your question of a better solution to multiple accounts with Cox, but I couldn't help but notice how the network is setup. Wouldn't it be better to have the router as a gateway or whatever out to the internet, and run a switch out from that router and have your twelve hosts plugged into the switch? Maybe you could put another router and split the twelve hosts into two 6-host subnets. Again, sorry... just an observation. As to your problem with Cox... I'm not completely sure, but seems to me there would definately be some other provider to give you a better deal that that
