Spam, Spam, Spam, and YOU

Folks,

Please do not reply to spam, or something that looks like spam. It makes more people look at the thread, and on top of that, makes it a moderator's nightmare when there are several threads on it.

Makes for verrrrry cranky mods, especially at 4:30 a.m.

I would like to add a note on Spam posts.

The spammers are getting very creative in their posts of late.

One way to tell it is spam is when there is a signature with a link or url in it (specifically in regards to a new member). If you see a post with either of these two, please report it as spam and one of us will take a look at it. The post itself may look legit, but chances are it is not.

As Adrynalyne has already stated, please do Not respond to it.

Just had to re-enter this again as I have noticed replies to spam again, while you may think a few spams say 10 is bad, it is , however what you all dont see is the vast amount we remove either before you see it as we know the types of IPs and user names that folk use, to majority of it entering our filter so is moderated and no-one sees it bar the moderation team.

Please keep in mind that even one reply to a spam thread gives the spammer exactly what they want...ATTENTION! They don't care if it's negative or postive as long as the thread is active. Replying bumps the thread to the top of the forum thus reflecting poorly on MG's. Going to any forum and the first thing you see at the top of the page is a spam thread looks bad.

Please report the thread as spam and we'll take care of it. (Don't reply to it.) And BTW..we DO know how to do that:D...while you may think telling us what steps we need to take in order to rid the forum of the spammer to ensure they don't return, I can assure you we not only know what we are doing but your "instructions" do not take into consideration the variables individual to each registered member.

For those that don't know how to report a thread/post: Every post has an 'report a bad post icon' --> in the upper right corner of the post. Click that and it will take you to a page where you can enter your comments. If it's a spam post you can simply say spam or if it's something else like a thread that needs to be moved or a link to something bad..something brief is all that's needed. Click send report and we get an instant email on it. Piece of cake and a big help to us!
