Default German government warns against using Internet Explorer

I wasn't sure where to post this, so if it belongs in the "Links" forum, feel free to move it....

Check out this article about a newly discovered vulnerability in all versions Internet Explorer (IE6, IE7, IE8 are all affected). As of Jan 17 2010, a patch has not been made available.

Just one more reason why I use Firefox exclusively. While no browser is 100% iron-clad rock-solid and secure, FF beats the pants off IE.....

So does French Gov http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8465038.stm I have to agree with Graham Cluley from Sophos (also met Cliff Evans a few years back), but while we all say no browser is 100% we dont really take it on board and use the likes of Firefox (Fx) as a crutch for security, why am I saying this, well just look at the number of folk in our malware forum asking for help that say they use Fx exclusively!

Its not always the browsers fault but the end user in not updating and patching as well as safe surfing, the vast amount of malware is spred not via infected websites, but more from spam email and warez.

Also the Australian gov't, if you read between the lines, the vulnerability exists in IE7 and IE8, it's the current exploit that affects IE6.

I keep hearing the IE sky is falling and rarely is it true. I agree with Halo on this, the user has a big influence in this by their habits. I've used FF for 4 years now out of personal preference rather than safety.
